Situated on the current eastern edge of Easterhouse, the area of brownfield land around Abbeycraig Road currently forms a suburban edge to the adjoining Seven Lochs Wetland Park - Scotland's Largest Urban Nature Park. The aim of the study was to look at opportunities to regenerate this significant area of derelict land, with proposals that tapped into this fabulous natural asset as part of the ongoing regeneration & expansion of Easterhouse.
A large quantity of high quality mixed tenure housing have been shown to the site, that place an emphasis on comfortable space standards & generous amenity space. 'Green corridors' are heavily promoted throughout the masterplan, while new community facilities (local shops, neighbourhood parks, community pavilion, allotments) were evolved as a result of consultations with local residents & the various stakeholders. The result of the Study is a desirable, sustainable & attractive new neighbourhood that will continue the fine recent regeneration work to one of Scotland's more historically deprived areas.
