project: conversion of great eastern hotel & adjacent land to form 108 flats

client:  arc homes ltd.
cost: £8 million
location: duke street, glasgow
architect: alan grant
completion date: august 2010

The project consisted of 60 no. flats converted from the existing "Listed B" Great Eastern Hotel with 48 no. new build flats for rent, along with all associated site works. A public art feature was also included as part of the development entrance into the site off Hunter Street. The elevational treatment to the new build was of a high standard to compliment Historic Scotland's requirements of "Developing Adjacent to Listed B Properties". Due to the restriction on available land for external amenities & open space, all high rise flats included balconies opening out to a southerly aspect.
