The development site has been designated for development by a Registered Social Landlord, to form part of a master plan approach to the site of former Blawarthill Hospital, the significant part of which is to be developed into a care home by Glasgow City Council. Set between the newly constructed carriageway & significant design parameters set by a Tree Preservation Orders to the rear, it is proposed to erect 15 no newbuild properties.
Terraced single storey bungalows are the prevailing house type; to meet the Association's current demand for single bedroom accommodation. The exception to this are the two storey cottage flat blocks which ‘bookend’ the newbuild site; one of which has been designed to be fully wheelchair accessible. A simple material palette has been chosen to compliment the existing red ashlar sandstone of the ‘C’ listed building adjacent to the site, which is also proposed for conversion,
