Clydesdale Community Hub

Mixed use development consisting of new community hub, offices for Clydesdale Housing association, and 4no. flats for social rent.

The brief for the building required 3 distinct elements; the Association’s offices, flatted accommodation for social rent and community facilities. The three parts to the project would work in conjunction to make the most efficient use of the site and maximise available funding. The site was extremely constraint, in the heart of the Lanark Conservation Area, with a 2.2m level difference. The design was driven by a desire to integrate the building into the identity of the area, offering a modern yet sympathetic addition to the town.

The ground floor houses facilities for the benefit of tenants and the surrounding local area. These include a reception area with computer access for public use, a multi-purpose space, 2 smaller confidential meeting rooms, accessible kitchen, toilets and baby change. The multi-purpose space is furnished to ensure flexible use: ranging from board-style meetings, a training venue, public meetings, light exercise and relaxation classes, to college outreach work. Clydesdale Community Hub will provide a base for the outreach delivery of services and activities, and a meeting base for groups to hire.
